Civil War Swords
The American Civil War was fought between the various states in the south, with those in the north during the time when Abraham Lincoln was president. Several types of swords, from Cavalry Swords to Sabers were used during the Civil War by both the Confederate and the Union soldiers. At the time it was necessary to order swords from a number of different companies to keep up with the demand by soldiers who lost or damaged their sword in the heat of battle.
One of the companies that created swords to be used during the civil war was The Ames Company which had produced over 200,000 swords. Another company that built swords for this time period was Mansfield and Lamb, which created a saber called the M1860 saber. Yet another company that profited from building civil war swords was P.S. Justice which had built around 14,000 cavalry sabers for use in battle. Tiffany and Co, the luxury jewelry retailer also made swords during the civil war, but these were high quality swords made specifically for officers.
Today, many replicas of Civil War Swords exist, as well as authentic swords that actually saw the battlefield. Of course an authentic civil war swords is not going to be cheap, because you would be purchasing an important piece of American history that helped to shape the nation today.
